The Flash dibuat berdasarkan karakter Flash (Barry Allen) dari ‘DC Comics’, The Flash versi serial televisi ini mengisahkan sejarah awal ‘Flash‘ saat seorang ilmuan bernama Barry Allen yang setelah mengalami kecelakaan dalam penelitiannya, tiba-tiba memiliki kekuatan super-cepat yang merubahnya menjadi manusia tercepat di dunia, The Flash.

The Flash dibuat untuk menjadi cerita lain dari Arrow, yang berada di dunia yang sama. Episode pertama “The Flash” dibuat oleh Greg Berlanti dan Andrew Kreisberg bersama Geoff John, yang saat ini sedang dalam produksi “Arrow”, dengan David Nutter bertindak sebagai sutradara.
